1. Seberapa tinggi potensi penambahan revenue (pendapatan) perusahaan baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung yang didapat pada saat konsep e-business diimplementasikan; dan
2. Seberapa tinggi potensi pengurangan cost (biaya) yang dapat dilakukan baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung yang didapat pada saat konsep e-business diterapkan.
Kedua hal tersebut adalah hal minimum yang harus di-deliver oleh e-business kepada perusahaan agar dapat secara nyata meningkatkan tingkat profitabilitasnya (sesuai dengan rumus sederhana Profit = Revenue – Cost). Dalam kenyataannya, tentu saja tidak semua usaha dapat secara langsung dan terlihat berpengaruh terhadap kedua variabel tersebut di atas, karena banyak dari manfaat atau value dari e-business yang bersifat intangible dan unquantifiable. Dalam bukunya “The Effective Measurements of IT Cost and Benefit Analysis”, Arthur Money dan Remenyi memberikan 16 kriteria yang harus diukur di dalam perusahaan untuk menentukan apakah konsep e-business yang diterapkan lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kondisi pada saat e-business belum diimplementasikan (manajemen bisnis konvensional).
Secara ringkas keenam-belas kriteria tersebut adalah sebagai berikut:

3. The system’s ability to avoid costs
4. The system’s ability to provide opportunity for revenue growth
5. The system’s ability to provide improved management information
6. The system’s ability to improved staff productivity

9. The system’s ability to provide competitive advantage
10. The system’s ability to catch up with competition
11. The system’s ability to provide improved management control
12. The system’s ability to provide improved management productivity
13. The system’s ability to provide improved staff morale
14. The system’s ability to provide an improved corporate image
15. The system’s ability to provide improved customer service
16. The system’s ability to improved client/server relationships
